Roman Yatsenko
Roman was born in the village of Havrylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. From a young age, he dreamed of the railway: in 2018, he began working as a locomotive assistant at the Dnipro locomotive depot. Even during his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he submitted documents to become a locomotive driver, hoping to take the exams upon his return.
His mother remembers Roman as an independent, tidy, and organized son who always kept his room in perfect order. He was quiet and reserved but often communicated with his father and grandfather about the technology he loved: he could assemble and disassemble a motorcycle with his eyes closed. Other interests included football and photography and videography of nature.
Without hesitation, Roman stood up to defend his homeland. With experience from his compulsory service in the border troops, after receiving his summons on October 27, 2023, he immediately went to the military enlistment office and joined the border unit.
24-year-old soldier Roman Yatsenko, locomotive assistant, was killed in action on December 29, 2023, during combat near the village of Kurdyumivka in the Donetsk region.
The team at the Dnipro locomotive depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in deep, sorrowful respect for Roman Yatsenko. Eternal memory to the young Warrior!
