Serhiy Derevytskyi was born in [Place of birth information is missing!!!]. He worked on the railway for 25 years. In 1996, he began as an assistant locomotive driver at the locomotive depot of the Lower Dniprovs'k Junction. Later, he worked as a locomotive driver, a repair mechanic for rolling stock, and a 6th category wagon inspector-repairman. At the time of his death, he was employed as a wagon inspector-repairman at the technical maintenance point in Lower Dniprovs'k Junction.
Section master Ruslan Streltsov recalls that Serhiy was very reliable and punctual. He could not tolerate any violations of work technology, understanding that safety on the railway depended on it. Due to his professional skills and principles, Serhiy was entrusted with the duties of a senior inspector when necessary, and he never let anyone down.
Serhiy Derevytskyi died on May 15, 2024, as a result of a missile strike. On that day, the 47-year-old railway worker was at work on the premises of the technical maintenance point in Lower Dniprovs'k Junction.
His wife Vita recalls: “Serhiy was everything to me: hands, legs, eyes, as I have poor health. He was caring, kind, and cheerful. He loved our two children and two grandchildren very much. They called him their favorite grandfather. He valued honesty the most in others. He easily got along with people and was always willing to help. At work, Serhiy was highly respected; he was reliable and very responsible. There was always a lot of work to do in the village—gardening, farming. Serhiy would take on any task because he was very hardworking. We had plans: to renovate the house, build a new summer kitchen, and overhaul the car. If it weren’t for this tragedy…”
Serhiy is survived by his wife, two children, and two grandchildren.
The team at the operational wagon depot of Lower Dniprovs'k Junction shares the heavy grief of Serhiy Derevytskyi's family. We express our sincere condolences to his wife, children, and grandchildren regarding this tragedy.
