Serhiy Hrechko

Serhiy was born in the village of Voronizh in the Sumy region. After school, he enrolled in a vocational school, dreaming of becoming a conductor and traveling through his native land; he loved playing the guitar. For over 20 years, he worked on the railway as a ticket cashier (mobile) at the Chernihiv motor car depot of the "Suburban Passenger Company" branch.

In October 2019, Serhiy served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under contract, and on December 16, 2020, he was mobilized. To his loved ones, Serhiy was remembered as kind, responsible, determined, and always ready to help. He was strong in spirit, a true patriot of his homeland, brave, courageous, and believed that Ukraine would be strong and free.

38-year-old Senior Soldier Serhiy Hrechko was killed while performing a combat mission on May 18, 2022, in the village of Trypillia in the Donetsk region.

The team at the Chernihiv motor car depot of the "Suburban Passenger Company" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns the loss of the senior soldier. This experienced ticket cashier with over 20 years of service purposefully joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His kindness and unwavering belief in a strong and free Ukraine will remain in the memory of his colleagues. Glory to the Defender!
