Serhiy KRAT
Serhiy was born in the village of Zhovtneve in the Zaporizhzhia region and lived in the city of Znamianka in the Kirovohrad region. After school, he studied at Znamianka Vocational Lyceum No. 3. He worked as a trackman of the 3rd category on the railway in the Znamianka track distance, where he planned to return after the victory.
In 2018, Serhiy signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as the deputy commander of a combat vehicle in the 57th Brigade and was a gunner-operator. Colleagues remember his cheerful disposition and sense of humor. Serhiy was very hardworking and never refused to help anyone. His wife Iryna says: “He gave everything for us, for a free Ukraine and peace; he gave the most precious thing—his life.”
44-year-old Serhiy Krat was killed on May 24, 2022, in the urban-type settlement of Toshkivka in the Luhansk region from a mine-explosive injury and gunshot shrapnel wounds due to enemy artillery shelling.
The defender had many plans for a peaceful future. His daughters Alina and Kira miss him dearly.
The team of the Znamianka track distance of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors the memory of their colleague. This hardworking trackman, who became the deputy commander of a combat vehicle in the 57th Brigade, is an eternal example of readiness to help in work and the highest sacrifice at the front for the sake of his daughters and peace.
