Serhiy MYKHAILCHENKO
Serhiy was born on March 23, 1996, in the village of Oleksiivka, Kirovohrad region. He studied at the Arbuzyn Professional Agricultural Lyceum. Since September 9, 2021, he worked as a 3rd class locksmith for the rolling stock repair section at the "Pomichna Repair Wagon Depot." During his time there, he proved to be a strong-willed and demanding worker.
Serhiy had combat experience: from 2016 to 2021, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) under contract. In March 2022, he was called back to military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Serhiy Oleksandrovych Mykhailchenko, a squad commander, was killed on May 4, 2022, while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine during a combat mission in the Kharkiv direction. He was 26 years old.
For his courage and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree by the President of Ukraine in June 2022.
We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Serhiy is survived by a son, a mother, two younger brothers, and a sister.
The team at the Pomichna Repair Wagon Depot of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors the memory of their colleague. This young locksmith was a veteran of the ATO/JFO and was among the first to defend his homeland, where he heroically fell in Kharkiv region. His strong character and bravery will always serve as an example for us!
