Sergiy POHRIBNYI
Serhiy was born in the village of Katerynivka in the Kirovohrad region and received his railway education in Znamianka. He worked as a fitter and later as a foreman in the Znamianka track maintenance unit. Colleagues describe Serhiy as a professional, a very honest, generous, and calm person. He was a loving son, a good family man, and a friend, a true patriot. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing.
Since 2015, Serhiy repeatedly took up arms to defend the country: he was mobilized, signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2016, and returned to military life on April 7, 2021. After the full-scale invasion, he served as a commander of a combat vehicle and a squad leader in the 1st Battalion of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporizhzhia Cossacks on the Kharkiv front, steadfastly adhering to his military oath.
41-year-old Senior Sergeant Serhiy Pogribnyi was killed on April 22, 2022, near the village of Kozacha Lopan in the Kharkiv region.
He was awarded numerous honors, including the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree (posthumously), the Presidential Award of Ukraine "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation," and the distinction "For Valor and Bravery."
Serhiy is survived by his wife, two daughters, and mother.
The team at the Znamianka track maintenance unit of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors the memory of the Warrior. This railway foreman, a multiple participant in combat operations and an exemplary family man, gave his life while defending Kharkiv region. His valor, confirmed by state awards, is an eternal symbol of sacrifice. Glory to the Hero!
