Serhiy ZASADKO

In the community, those like the foreman of current maintenance and repair of the track and artificial structures of the Kovel track distance, Serhiy Zasadko, are called "masters with golden hands." Serhiy not only performed his work with skill and responsibility but also crafted forged products, repaired and modernized cars, and was a blood donor.

With the onset of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, the railway worker voluntarily enlisted to go to the front. He served as a driver for an artillery battery. His comrades in arms gave him the call sign "Papik" due to his incredible love for his daughter Eva, about whom he constantly spoke. Serhiy had a great sense of humor and jokingly confessed to his wife that he was teaching Ukrainian to the guys from Donetsk.

Soldier Serhiy Zasadko was killed on April 28, 2022, in Donetsk as a result of a massive enemy artillery shelling. The DNA examination lasted almost two months, and only on June 22 did the Hero return home "on a shield." He was forever 37 years old... With the loud horn of a locomotive, railway workers honored the memory of their colleague as the cortege with the fallen warrior crossed the railway crossing in his hometown of Volodymyr.

For his personal bravery, Serhiy Zasadko was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.

The team of the Kovel track distance of the regional branch "Lviv Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors the memory of their fallen foreman. This responsible master "with golden hands," donor, and loving father joined the defenders as a volunteer. His self-sacrifice in Donetsk is a model of patriotism.
