Yevheniy Makeychyk

Yevhen was born in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He worked on the railway for almost 10.5 years, starting in 2001 at the Kryvyi Rih track maintenance unit.

On August 19, 2022, Yevhen took up arms to defend his homeland, serving as a commander of a rifle squad. His son, Maksym, recalls that his father was strong, robust, and very active, having previously served in the Air Force. He loved his job on the railway and was a role model for his son, instilling a sense of responsibility and hard work. Yevhen was a very cheerful and sociable person, passionate about bowling and participating in competitions. During combat operations, he was injured by a grenade, sustaining fatal wounds.

42-year-old Yevhen Makeychyk was killed on April 20, 2023, during combat in the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region.

Yevhen is survived by his son, Maksym.

The team at the Kryvyi Rih track maintenance unit of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns the loss of Yevhen Makeychyk. His responsibility and spirit will forever remain a model for us. Glory to the defender!
