Yevheniy SVIRSKYI
Yevheniy Oleksandrovych Svirskyi was born in the town of Fastiv in Kyiv Oblast. He graduated from a railway vocational school and dedicated nearly 28 years to working on the railway. In July 1992, he began working at the Fastiv Motor Car Depot of the South-Western Railway. He progressed from a repair mechanic for electric trains to a train driver at the "High-Speed Depot" of the "Passenger Company" branch. In 2007, Yevheniy Oleksandrovych obtained a higher education degree in "Electromechanical Engineering" from the Kyiv University of Economics and Transport Technologies. He continued his career at the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Railway High-Speed Company" (UZHK).
Yevheniy was actively involved in public life: he was one of the founders of the primary trade union organization at UZHK and served as the deputy head of the trade union committee.
On February 24, 2022, Yevheniy voluntarily took up arms to defend his homeland. He joined the ranks of the 208th Battalion as a combat medic in the rifle platoon of the 1st rifle company, holding the rank of junior sergeant. Later, Yevheniy Svirskyi was transferred to the 114th Brigade as a combat medic in the rifle platoon. While defending the country from the enemy, he was awarded the medal "For Indomitable Heroes of the Russo-Ukrainian War" for his defense of Lysychansk.
Junior Sergeant Yevheniy Svirskyi was killed on May 20, 2024, during an assault by enemy forces near the village of Soloviove in Donetsk Oblast. He was just two weeks shy of his 54th birthday. After a fierce battle with Russian occupiers, he was initially reported missing in action, but unfortunately, confirmation of his death was received only recently.
He was buried in his hometown of Fastiv on April 14, 2025.
Yevheniy is survived by his wife and two sons.
