Yuriy BABUNYCH
Yuriy, hailing from the mountainous village of Syanky, came to work as a track technician in the Uzhhorod railway division, bringing with him serious combat experience from his participation in the ATO/JFO since 2014. On the very first day of the full-scale war, he unhesitatingly donned military uniform once again.
He served as a grenade launcher in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel, fighting the enemy in the hottest spots. Colleagues and comrades remember him as sincere, kind, always smiling, and incredibly brave, a strong-spirited young man who became a symbol of resilience.
29-year-old Senior Soldier Yuriy Babunych passed away on December 16, 2022, in the hospital. His heart stopped after three months of medical struggle against the consequences of a severe mine-explosive injury sustained on September 13, 2022, due to an artillery shelling in Mykolaiv.
Yuriy was awarded numerous honors, including the "Iron Warrior," "For Exemplary Military Service" of the III and I degrees, and posthumously awarded the Order of the "Hero's Cross."
Yuriy is survived by his wife and son.
The team at the Uzhhorod railway division of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors their colleague with indescribable pride and deep sorrow. His resilience is an eternal example for each of us. Eternal memory and respect to the Hero!
