Yuriy Tkachuk
Yuriy was born in the village of Cherepkivtsi in the Chernivtsi region. After completing his mandatory military service in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, he mastered the railway profession and worked as a train dispatcher in the Ivano-Frankivsk railway transportation directorate.
He underwent his combat "baptism" as part of the first mountain assault company of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the ATO zone (2014-2017). Yuriy bravely fought since 2020, and in February 2022, he once again took up the defense of his homeland.
In civilian life, he was modest, conflict-free, and friendly. In the war, Senior Sergeant Tkachuk was a disciplined, organized, and brave fighter who earned the respect of his comrades.
Senior Sergeant Yuriy Tkachuk was killed on August 15, 2022, as a result of an enemy anti-tank mine explosion while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Yakovlivka in Donetsk region. He was just 28 years old.
Yuriy is survived by his mother.
The team at the Ivano-Frankivsk railway transportation directorate of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns the loss of their colleague. The train dispatcher, who repeatedly stood up to defend the country since 2014, died as an experienced warrior. His military journey, dedication to his oath, and unwavering bravery will forever be etched in the memory of railway workers. Eternal glory to the Defender!
