Yuriy VETKOV

Yuriy was born in Novomoskovsk, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the State Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine. In April 2000, he began working on the railway and rose to the position of 6th category electrical fitter of the contact network in the Lower Dnipro Electric Supply Distance.

Yuriy's supervisor recalls that he was one of three esteemed "upper-level" specialists one could rely on. Yuriy participated in the electrification of the high-speed route from Dnipro to Piatykhatky. He was very attached to his homeland and loved fishing on the banks of the Samara River.

On July 11, 2022, Yuriy was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in the 93rd Brigade "Cold Yar." The mayor of Novomoskovsk, Serhiy Reznik, noted that Yuriy "did not shy away from danger and was on the front lines of the hottest areas."

42-year-old Junior Sergeant Yuriy Vetkov was killed on February 2, 2023, in the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region.

Yuriy is survived by his wife Oksana and their 20-year-old daughter Vlada.
