Andriy Shvets
Andriy was born in the city of Ovruch in the Zhytomyr region, where he lived. He graduated from Ovruch Vocational Technical School No. 35 and worked as an electrician repairing overhead power lines of the 4th category at the Korosten Electric Supply Distance of the regional branch of the "South-Western Railway."
From 2016 to 2017, he served in the National Guard of Ukraine. He served in the 1st Presidential Brigade of Operational Assignment named after Hetman Petro Doroshenko of the Northern Operational Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Since August 2019, Andriy served under contract in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a driver in the material support platoon of the 148th Separate Self-Propelled Howitzer Artillery Division of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A3316, city of Zhytomyr). He was responsible for transporting ammunition. From 2020 to 2022, he participated in the Joint Forces Operation in eastern Ukraine.
28-year-old soldier Andriy Shvets was killed by a gunshot wound on March 3, 2022, in the Sievierodonetsk district of Luhansk region.
Posthumously, Andriy was awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree and medals. He was granted the title of Honorary Citizen of the city of Ovruch (posthumously). In November 2022, one of the streets in the village of Sholomky was renamed after Andriy Shvets. In February 2023, a memorial plaque was unveiled at Ovruch Lyceum No. 1, where Andriy studied, in memory of the soldier.
Colleagues describe Andriy as honest, sincere, decent, fair, disciplined, and communicative. He was also calm, reserved, kind, and independently solved the tasks set before him.
Andriy is survived by his wife and daughter.
