Ihor Prokaiev
In 2023, he joined the railway family as a wagon inspector-repairman at the Kyiv-Volyn station of the regional branch "South-Western Railway." He worked on the railway for 5 years.
On December 21, 2024, he enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in a military unit of the unmanned aerial vehicle platoon of a motorized infantry battalion, not just as a drone operator but as the eyes of the front. Thanks to his ability to work accurately with technology, analyze situations, and make quick decisions, he saved the lives of comrades and successfully completed combat missions on multiple occasions.
Ihor was killed on July 15, 2025, while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine during a combat mission in Sumy Oblast.
Colleagues remember him as kind, calm, intelligent, balanced, hardworking, responsible, and cheerful. In the team, he was not only an experienced professional who always approached his work with responsibility but also a person with a big heart. He knew how to support, advise, and inspire. His wife recalls him as a kind, hardworking person: "A man who sees a goal does not see obstacles." Outside of service, Ihor was a cheerful person known to all as a big football fan. He could talk for hours about matches, played football in his free time, and always dreamed of gathering with friends at the stadium after a victory. He lived with dreams of seeing the Carpathians with his family—their peaks, mists, and morning sun. He dreamed of his two daughters, a home filled with the sound of children's laughter.
Ihor is survived by his wife and daughter. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
The team at the Kyiv-Volyn railway station's wagon maintenance point deeply mourns this irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero.
