Lydmyla KONONUCHENKO
Ludmyla was born in Kazakhstan but lived in Irpin from the age of three. She graduated from the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport in Kharkiv. Together with her sister, she worked as a train conductor.
51-year-old Ludmyla Kononuchenko died on March 23, 2022, at her home during the occupation of the town of Irpin in the Kyiv region, from a shrapnel wound. At that moment, she was preparing tea and coffee for the guys from the Territorial Defense.
Her sister, Natalia Andronova, recalls that Ludmyla was very talented: she excelled in her studies, engaged in sports, wrote poetry, danced, and loved music. She had a model appearance, intelligence, and prudence. She was well-liked at work, the life of the party—cheerful, friendly, and beautiful. She loved to dress well, do photo shoots, and gather friends. She had a pet dog named Zephyrion, a Chihuahua.
Circumstances of her death: Her mother, who was standing nearby, saw how a shard hit her cheek and exited through her head. It was impossible to provide Ludmila with timely medical assistance. She was buried in the yard, but a proper burial could only take place 25 days later.
Ludmyla is survived by her son.
The team of the carriage section at Kyiv-Passenger station of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns the tragic loss of their colleague, Ludmila Kononuchenko. We will remember her as a talented, cheerful, and friendly conductor whose sacrifice became a symbol of resilience. May the memory of our colleague, who heroically died in her own home, be eternal.
