25.09.1994 – 14.08.2025

Mykhailo Shostak was born in the city of Koziatyn, Vinnytsia region. In 2007, he graduated from Vinnytsia National Technical University with a degree in "Software for Automated Systems." He began his career in 2013 at the separate subdivision of the Koziatyn signaling and communication distance of the South-Western Railway as an electrician for the repair and maintenance of communication equipment and devices. In March 2020, he started working in the production unit "Kyiv Branch" of the "Main Information and Computing Center" of the joint-stock company "Ukrainian Railways" as an electronics engineer in the terminal equipment maintenance department.

On February 27, 2022, Mykhailo joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. True to his oath, he bravely defended his homeland from the enemy, demonstrating resilience, determination, and true heroism.

Mykhailo was killed on August 14, 2025, while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine during a combat mission in the Chuhuiv district of Kharkiv region. In the final moments of his life, he displayed incredible courage and selflessness, becoming an example of a true hero who put himself in danger to save his comrades.

A representative of a railway dynasty, Mykhailo had been interested in radio engineering since childhood and consciously chose the railway, just like his grandfather, father, and brothers before him. He was a true specialist who was passionate about his work. He served as a youth leader and deputy chairman of the youth council of the railway trade union organization of the South-Western Railway, exemplifying responsibility, activity, and humanity. He organized various events for his colleagues, was passionate about volleyball, and was an excellent athlete, winning prizes in competitions and inspiring others to achieve victories. Charismatic and sincere, he had many friends across Ukraine—those he helped in peaceful life and those he went to defend at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. His death is a great loss for the railway, the trade union community, colleagues, and all who had the honor of knowing Mykhailo. Colleagues describe him as a diligent, responsible, and professional worker who meticulously fulfilled all assigned production tasks and constantly sought professional growth.

The fallen hero is survived by his wife and daughter. Mykhailo left behind a bright memory as a true colleague, friend, and defender. His courage, dedication, and self-sacrifice will remain in the hearts of all who had the honor to work and serve alongside him.

The team of the "Main Information and Computing Center" deeply mourns the irreparable loss. We remember Mykhailo as a true railway worker and brave defender, a reliable friend who knew how to unite people. Eternal Memory and Glory to the Hero!
