Oleksandr ANTONYUK
Oleksandr was born in Donetsk. He lived in the village of Vesele in Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the Synelnykove Vocational Lyceum. He worked as an assistant locomotive driver at the Synelnykove locomotive depot.
His mother, Tetiana Oleksandrivna, recounts: “Sashko was a truth-lover, could not stand lies, and was also an incredible neat freak; he loved perfect cleanliness and tidiness. He was the life of the party. Everyone wanted to be friends with him because he was a celebration of life, very sociable, and constantly came up with ideas for outings in nature or other activities.” “He studied to be a locksmith, but always dreamed of driving trains. So he became an assistant locomotive driver. The cabin of the locomotive and the possibility of going somewhere brought Sashko unhidden joy and satisfaction.” “On the first day of the war, my twin sons, Sashko and Serhii, hugged each other and said, ‘Well, shall we go defend our homeland?’ and headed to the military enlistment office.”
After his mandatory service, Oleksandr signed a 5-year contract, served in the ATO, and fought near Rubizhne.
On February 25, 2022, he was mobilized and served in the 93rd Independent Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar.”
He died near Izium. A comrade informed his mother about his death.
28-year-old Chief Sergeant Oleksandr Antoniuk was killed on April 19, 2022, near the city of Izium in Kharkiv region. The war dashed all his dreams and plans for the future: he did not have time to start a family, buy a car, or own a house, and he also did not finish the train driver courses he started in January 2022.
He was posthumously awarded the Order of “For Courage” III degree.
Oleksandr is survived by his mother.
The team at the Synelnykove locomotive depot of the regional branch “Pridniprovsk Railway” of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” deeply mourns the loss of their colleague, Chief Sergeant Oleksandr Antoniuk. He was a cheerful assistant locomotive driver, the soul of the company, and a veteran of the ATO who, along with his twin brother, went to defend the country from the first days of the full-scale invasion. Glory to the Hero, posthumously awarded the Order of “For Courage”!
