Yuriy Leonidovych Yasinskyi was born on August 6, 1994, in the city of Koziatyn. After finishing school, he enrolled in the Koziatyn Railway College, where he trained as an assistant locomotive driver. He began working at the locomotive depot in his specialty while simultaneously studying at the Kyiv University of Transport. He was his mother's favorite, but he faced heavy trials: when he was 25, he lost his mother and later his father.

Yuriy worked as an assistant locomotive driver at the production unit "Koziatyn Locomotive Depot" of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrainian Railways." He had 10 years of experience in the railway sector.

From the first days of the war, he witnessed the horrors and suffering it brought. He transported evacuees and cargo. Yuriy could have had a deferment, but this brave, albeit young man decided to go to war, informing everyone of his decision. On March 24, 2023, he was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He trained in the United Kingdom. After that, he participated in combat operations near the settlement of Krynyky in the Kherson region, where he sustained injuries and a severe concussion. After treatment, he returned to duty. Then he served in the Pokrovsk direction. A year and a half of fierce battles and trials. He completed officer courses and received the rank of junior lieutenant. He was a true commander. Even on leave, he stayed in touch with his comrades. When he returned, he brought everything they had requested. He also remembered his family, congratulating them on their birthdays and calling them in the morning and evening whenever possible. He stayed in touch until the last hours.

He died on September 19, 2025, loyal to his military oath to the Ukrainian people, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine while fulfilling his military duties near the settlement of Kryvorizhzhia in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region.

His sister Natalia and her family became his family. He especially loved his nephews, Makary and Artem, dedicating all his free time to them. They were the ones who awaited him the most. He fulfilled all their wishes, never refusing them anything. The most loyal person, with a heightened sense of justice, this is how his family and friends will remember him.

Yuriy is survived by his sister and nephews. We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.

The team at the Koziatyn Locomotive Depot deeply mourns this irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero.
