Artur VENZHIK
Artur Venzhik lived in the city of Koziatyn, Khmilnytskyi District, Vinnytsia Oblast. He studied at the general education school I-III levels No. 1 in Koziatyn named after T.G. Shevchenko.
In 2016, he graduated from the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution "Koziatyn Interregional Higher Vocational School of Railway Transport" and obtained the profession of "wagon inspector-repairman." In 2018, he completed his full general secondary education at the State Vocational Technical Institution "Koziatyn Interregional Higher Vocational School of Railway Transport." In 2018, he graduated from the same institution and acquired the profession of "automobile repair mechanic" and improved his qualifications as a "train dispatcher."
In 2019, he graduated from the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution "Koziatyn Interregional Higher Vocational School of Railway Transport" and obtained the profession (improved his qualifications as a "passenger train conductor").
Since 2020, he has been a blood donor and/or its components.
Since 2020, he worked at VCh-1 Kyiv-Passenger as a passenger train conductor.
In April 2021, he was called up to the National Guard of Ukraine and distinguished himself as a well-prepared, highly qualified, and principled serviceman. While performing his official duties, he demonstrated composure, resourcefulness, and decisiveness. 21-year-old soldier Artur Venzhik, with the call sign "Chernysh," died on March 20, 2022. In his honor, a street was named after him in his hometown of Koziatyn. A memorial plaque was unveiled on the building where the hero lived. A memorial was also established on the Alley of Memory near the State Historical and Memorial Lukyanivskyi Reserve in Kyiv.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian aggressors into Ukraine, which took place on February 24, 2022, Artur was tasked with defending and restoring Ukraine's borders, where he proved himself to be a true warrior and protector of his homeland.
On February 25, 2022, at 11:35, 16 Russian T-72 battle tanks and 2 infantry fighting vehicles approached the destroyed bridge over the Siverskyi Donets River from the direction of the settlement of Krasnyi Lyman in the Slovianoserbsk district of Luhansk region and began an assault on the combat positions of the battalion tactical group in the area of the settlement of Trikhibenka in the Shchastynsk district of Luhansk region. Despite the overwhelming enemy force, soldier Venzhik A. H. helped evacuate two wounded servicemen from the battlefield during a three-hour battle.
On March 16, 2022, while performing combat tasks (conducting defensive combat to hold positions) in the settlement of Rubizhne, Severodonetsk district, Luhansk region, he came under enemy fire from artillery and small arms, resulting in a fatal injury (diffuse brain injury). Doctors fought for the Hero's life until the very end. On March 20, 2022, after resuscitation efforts, he passed away in the hospital without regaining consciousness. News of Artur was broadcast on television and in the media. Doctors stated that with such an injury, there was no chance of survival. However, Artur was so determined to return home alive that even in a coma, he unconsciously fought for his life until the very end.
Artur was buried in the Vinnytsia region, in the city of Koziatyn, at the Glory Alley of the central cemetery.
For his diligent fulfillment of official duties, loyalty to the Military Oath and the Ukrainian people, exemplary execution of service and combat tasks, personal courage, and heroism in difficult conditions of life and health threats, soldier Venzhik Artur Hennadiyovych was awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree (posthumously) by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated April 25, 2022, No. 276/2022.
For his sacrificial service in preserving the God-given gift of freedom and independence, he was awarded the medal of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine "CROSS OF FREEDOM" (posthumously).
Artur also received the medal "FOR HEROISM AND PATRIOTISM," the President of Ukraine's award "FOR THE DEFENSE OF UKRAINE," and was named an Honorary Citizen of Koziatyn.
At home, Artur was awaited by his mother, father, and younger sister.
In August 2022, a street was named in honor of the Hero, and on the anniversary (March 20, 2023), a memorial plaque was installed on that street.
Near the State Historical and Memorial Lukyanivsk Reserve (Lukyanivske Cemetery) in Kyiv, a memorial stele was erected on the Alley of Memory of Defenders of Ukraine, inscribed with the Hero's name. The heroes of our time, listed on the memorial steles located on the Alley of Memory of Defenders of Ukraine, are included in the "Book of Courage."
The Wall of Memory for those who died for Ukraine is located at the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery along Trikhsviatytelska Street near Mykhailivska Square, where a photo and a brief biography of the serviceman who died defending Ukraine during the Russo-Ukrainian War are displayed.
